At this year’s and probably last Convoy to remember the club CHAF showed a field workshop with a GMC workshop car.
This was already prepared months before and completed for the event.
As always at a convoy event Tobias and Daniel were already on the field on the Monday before and were supported by further helpers like Simon and Thomas. Also our passive members and very close friends Gabi and Hans were already on site and had already moved one or the other truck to the area. In addition, Jürg brought us a perfectly restored M8 on the dispo.
So you could take your time to set up the dispo for the visitors from Friday to Sunday in peace and quiet and to present it optimally.
Of course, the orders to the “Mechenwerkstatt” were not long in coming and so the first repair order came in shortly after the workshop car was assembled, followed by many more.
On the part of the FHD department the transmission with the switchboard 57 was shown. Linda was very busy in the run-up and wrote all marching orders and other commands with a mechanical typewriter, which was also used by Ramona at the event.
A highlight of this year’s CHAF-Dispos was certainly the promotion ceremony from Linda to FHD function level 4 (Feldweibel). This almost completely original with flag, flag march, speech of the Kdt and handshake over the flag with the delivery of a white rose (since FHD was weaponless).
I think I speak on behalf of all CHAFler when I say that this was surely one of the most successful Dispothemen. Also the newly introduced replacement times (Picasso) worked perfectly and so each member had 2 times 2 hours per day to visit the area and the exhibitions with a comrade or alone.
The following CHAFler were actively present: Tobias, Daniel, Thomas, Linda, Ramona, Lukas, Fabian and Remo and as reinforcements Jürg and Gabi and Hans were also involved.
